Thank you for visiting the Gila Ridge High School website. Gila Ridge is in its fifth year of operation, and we are looking forward to an amazing year! The 2011-2012 school year will commemorate the third graduating class for Gila Ridge. We will also implement some exciting new initiatives through Ready Now Yuma, which includes the Cambridge curriculum for our freshmen as well as AVID and Advanced Placement courses, both of which Gila Ridge has offered for many years. Ready Now Yuma encompasses all instructional programs that are designed to prepare our students to be academically and technologically ready for college and careers by the time they graduate from high school.
Gila Ridge High School is a collaborative academic community. Our school functions as a professional learning community. Our faculty works together to develop curriculum, instructional units, and assessments. This practice allows our students to benefit from an aligned curriculum and a cohesive instructional plan. The shared vision of the faculty is the success and achievement of all students.
The student population at Gila Ridge boasts accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom. There are more than forty active clubs on campus; several of them compete at both the state and national levels. Gila Ridge also offers a full complement of athletic activities for our students. The talents of our students continue to amaze us as they excel academically as well as in the areas of fine arts, technology, and athletics.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Hawk community, including faculty, staff, students, and parents, as well as our larger Yuma community, for supporting Gila Ridge High School. We are fortunate to have such an amazing contingent of people to assist us in encouraging our students in so many areas. It is our commitment to become better everyday and to model our values of respect, responsibility, and integrity. As always, it is a great day to be a HAWK!
